I’m already living in a cage
why you gotta clip my wings
I’m already begging for my food
so don’t tell me when to eat
I’m in the middle of the room
for you to point and stare
They say that bird could fly around the world
but she ain’t going nowhere
Then they want me to sing and sing
but I got nothing to say
They want me dream about the sky
Then let me die in this cage
They want me to sing and sing
But I got nothing to say
I hear wild birds outside
and they been calling my name
Isn’t it enough I’ve made the best
Of this place
Isn’t enough I’ve watched them all
fly away
Isn’t it enough I was taught what I swore I’d never learn
Isn’t it a bluff I was given what I was told I had to earn
Then they want me to sing and sing
but I got nothing to say
They want me dream about the sky
Then let me die in this cage
They want me to sing and sing
But I got nothing to say
I hear wild birds outside
and they been calling my name
Hey ya hey yaa—

A big, epic, monstrous beast of an album in which everything that was promised by the previous two records comes to fruition. The final track is an almost ambient palate cleanser. Listeners who have only heard her debut album will be so phenomenally unprepared for what they're about to hear. Ed Martin
