I hate to be awake at this hour thinking of you
My mind is like a snake oil salesman asking me to call you
But what would I even say that hasn’t been said?
And would that phone ringing wake someone sleeping on my side of the bed?
Oh but maybe, baby, we could work it out this time
But we both know, we’ll both go, our separate ways in time
Oh maybe, baby, we could work it out this time
But we both know, we’ll both go, our separate ways in time
Is this love
Well I don’t know
I begged you to stay but prayed
you would go
I touched your warm lips
Searching for a spark
But the light you promised only led me to the dark
You told me I was your mustang wild and free
You told me you could build fences to protect me
But that fence became a maze, each turn punished or praised
Making me run around making me chase down my sanity
Oh but maybe, baby, we could work it out this time
But we both know, we’ll both go, our separate ways in time
Oh maybe, baby, we could work it out this time
But we both know, we’ll both go, our separate ways in time
My heart is like a gambler playing with the truth
I play the cards I’m felt but fate felt me you
Now the dealer is crooked and the deck has been stacked
and all that I’ve lost I can never get back
(Chorus)

A big, epic, monstrous beast of an album in which everything that was promised by the previous two records comes to fruition. The final track is an almost ambient palate cleanser. Listeners who have only heard her debut album will be so phenomenally unprepared for what they're about to hear. Ed Martin
